Situation
Company A is a leading food manufacturer and distributor in Korea with over 50 years of history. In order to improve business processes and develop existing businesses into forms suitable for the digital environment, it has pursued cloud-based digital transformation at the company-wide level.
As a first step in digital transformation, it needed a data platform that could bring together and analyze data across the company. In the past, data for customer, sales, manufacturing, and quality were scattered across multiple systems. Even if you access a specific system to view data, you cannot see the data from other systems simultaneously, making integrated data utilization difficult. Because IT staff support was essential to retrieve data, there was a limit to the timeliness with which the data could be viewed.
Bespin’s Solution
With Bespin Global’s B2D2 Modern Data Stack, it built a cloud-based, modern data platform. In this process, the data cloud solution ‘Snowflake’ was utilized to collect and analyze data from all systems in an integrated manner. In a modern data platform, various types of data, including structured, unstructured, semi-structured, web page crawling, cloud platforms, Salesforce and others, are ingested through AWS S3 into Snowflake. The collected data can be conveniently used, such as querying and analyzing it all at once on snowflakes.
Snowflake is very satisfying because it easily handles semi-structured data such as Internet crawl data and emojis, so you can use it as data without omissions of comments and customer reviews on the Internet. Another great advantage lies in that, as you can set different viewing permissions for each team and user on a single table, organizations with complex permission structures can also use it without any issues. It is very time and cost efficient, as storage and CPU are separated, a single database (DB) can be configured differently to quickly leverage different business situations.

Expected Impact
By combining and analyzing various data, we look forward to establishing data-driven business decisions. For example, we can quickly reflect on marketing campaigns by combining customer reviews or comments on the Internet with the sales data for new products. By combining manufacturing-related data such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and factory information, with supply chain data, such as warehouse, distribution, shipping and others, we can also increase operational efficiency and optimize manufacturing processes
This data-driven decision-making requires an environment where employees can easily view and analyze data, even if they do not possess specialized knowledge. Therefore, we are currently building Self Service BI on an integrated data platform and will make it possible for employees working in the field to access and utilize the data they want. In addition, we plan to expand the scope of the data platform across the entire company in the future, including the ERP system.

Bespin Global successfully established the optimal architecture and infrastructure environment based on its experience in many data projects, and continued to take an active part providing monitoring and technical support for stabilization. With the self-service BI not built yet, employees without data expertise are experiencing difficulty viewing the data.
